Sex toy tech is constantly getting more and more advanced and the rise in popularity of home automation and smart things around the house to monitor pretty much everything we are finally realizing the robot and super-tech age predicted in the 1980’s and laughed off ever since. It seems an acceleration has been taking place over the past few years not just technologically but also culturally. This has lead the way for a Chinese sex toy firm and CEO Lin Degang of Chunshuitang to make preparations to launch a love hotel off the back of their fantastically large online sex toy business, the first of its kind in China.
What is a Love Hotel?
Love hotels are a form of erotic hospitality that allows clients to rent rooms for a short period of time fo rthe sole purpose of sexual activities and love making.
Lin’s new Love Hotel will have 50 rooms in total, each decorated in one of ten different styles. Some have skylights, some contain mirrors strategically placed around the room, and others will offer toys and costumes for couples to enjoy role playing scenarios and get experimental. The name of Lin’s new paradise? “Love Poem” and is aimed at high net worth individuals charging between $92 and $232 per night which is comparable to the Shangri-La in Hangzhou.
While love hotels are new to China their are more than thirty thousand of them in Japan visited by two and a half million people per day however in China despite a population ten fold Japans they only have between 300-500 at the moment. Lin Degang wants to make his love hotel as smart as it possibly can by ensuring smart sensors are used everywhere to monitor and control everything from temperature and many other variants from the mood lighting in the rooms. The sensors will also be able to monitor physical exchanges between guests to be used to effect the environment. Guests of the hotel can also purchase costumes, wine, chocolate and of course sex toys made by the owners of the hotel Chunshuitang.
Love Poem will also be opening in Hangzhou in the eastern province of Zhejiang which was chosen because it is a romantic and beautiful city and the birth place of the legend of White snake. White Snake is ancient chinese folklore involving a love story between a snake and a man who meet at the local West Lake, strange? we agree. The hotel has cost nearly $4 million so far but this is surely just a snip after raising over 15 million last year in funding.
Lin’s dream is to build a “hormone economy” that covers all areas related to romance and intimacy.
