Kinky.com writes that researchers have found ways to potentially work out the sex of a dinosaur fossil by looking at the gaps in the chevrons in the tailbone and while a little off topic we found it thoroughly interesting.
It will be up to researches to further analyze additional clumps of oviraptorosaur bones before being able to state conclusively if the chevron method of identification is viable. While examining chevrons may not be applicable to multi-tonne dinosaurs like Tyrannosaurs rex and Triceratops, approval would allow researchers to examine the bones of smaller dinosaurs with similar methods to determine sex.
